My Review:
A beautifully illustrated picture book that talks about the love between parents for their child, as well as how God reveals his love for us in creation.
Perfect as a bedtime read, this lovely book has gorgeous pictures that show various animals and scenes of nature. A great reminder of how God reveals himself through nature, as well as how parents show love to a child.
This is a really cute book, written in a fun style, and great for sharing with the young person in your life. Makes for a great gift or just because. I loved the color palette of the pictures, and how couple and child are more dark haired with a middle-toned skin color. Adorable read from Lisa Tawn Bergren.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
My Review:
This Bible storybook is illustrated with modernly whimsical incarnations of the Biblical characters, and contains 45 stories from the Old and New Testament.
Written in a way that comes across as a paraphrase at times, with an emphasis on the Holy Spirit. Other times I felt like liberties were taken with specifically saying that it was the Holy Spirit, when the actual Biblical text on which the story was based did not say, and so the Spirit’s part is inferred as part of God collectively as the Trinity, so there were times when it felt odd to me to single out the Spirit.
For the most part they did a good job of selecting a mixture of stories from when the Spirit of God moved people and filled them for His glory, some of them were well known, while others were not the typical Sunday School lesson. I liked the stories about people like Bezalel, who built the ark of the covenant, but the stoning of Zechariah was an interesting choice. But creatively I’m not sure how I feel about how the Spirit was illustrated as a visible cloud.
Overall, this was a nice storybook style book, and I liked how it told stories that were different from the normal. But I did feel like sometimes it was a stretch to write a whole story based off of one verse, and going off of inferences. In the end I have mixed feelings about this one, because there was so much to like, but also a few things that just struck me as slightly off.

My Review:
Christmas is an exciting time, and it’s easy to get caught up in the hoopla. But Bob, Larry, and the rest of our favorite vegetables want you to know that the real reason that we celebrate Christmas.
A vibrant read, that flows swiftly in rhyming verses that talk about all the many things that we do at Christmas time, and the most important reason for it all. I loved the brightly colored illustrations that made this book really pop. It was a fun quick read, great for sharing with the next generation of Veggie Tales fans.
I loved the simple but important message of remembering Christ’s humble birth, and the hope to a fallen world that He brings. Definitely great for young ones, and would make a great gift.

My Review:This delightful pocket sized board book entwines multiple poetic prayers for children together in this playfully illustrated, and sturdy board book. I was amazed at how well the ten poems fit together, and if I hadn’t known better I would have thought that they had always been compiled together in this way.
Some of the verses were instantly recognizable as classics, while others were completely new to me, and their authors unknown.
Beautiful watercolor illustrations grace this compact book that is sure to be a treasured classic in your little one’s library. Great for bedtime prayer time.

My Review:
A delightful children’s book about the value of a good friend.
Penguin wants to fly like the other birds, but he can’t figure out how, though he and his best friend Moose make many attempts. Moose is a supportive friend, standing by his friend, supporting him and offering ideas to help Penguin reach his goal.
Penguin and Moose is an adorable picture book from Hannah C. Hall about the importance of not only having good friends, but also about being a good friend in return. I loved the whimsically adorable illustrations throughout the book, bright and full of color. This is a delightful read, and a great one to share with the young people in your life, it would also make a great gift and teaches the a valuable lesson about being a good friend in return.
